Tito’s Next Fight - In the UFC?

So Tito and Dana have made up and Brock Lesnar’s days of being the baddest villain in the UFC seem to be over. Now I don’t really understand how you can talk so much smack and then kiss and make up, but Dana and Tito seem to have done it. That still shouldn’t mean Tito is worthy of a UFC spot. Do I want to see Tito fight? Yes. But I don’t want him get his head smashed. And Tito’s badass reputation is going to take a big hit as he has kissed Dana’s butt at this point. Tito has realized that nobody can offer him anything close to what the UFC can, so that’s probably why he is come back. Too bad it all came out so pro-wrestlish.

UFC 100 Post Fight Press Conference

UFC 100 is in the books and what an event it was. A lot of good fights and a heck of a show from Brock Lesnar. I almost feel bad for all the other guys. As well as they may have performed, UFC 100 will be in the books with Brock as the major story. Brock flipping off the fans, dismissing the sponsor, talking about having sex with his wife was funny, provocative, and something I’ll not forget for a few days. He knows how to sell a PPV, and he just did his next fight.

UFC 100: Lesnar Mir Not the Only Fight In Town

I know a lot of folks are excited about Mir - Lesnar II, but in reality the most exciting fights of the night will be the other two major fights on this card. GSP vs. Alves is going to be one heck of a fight, but I certainly look forward to Bisping vs. Henderson. It’s a fight that will determine who faces Anderson Silva. The fight is going to be close. I feel the other two fights will have a clear winner whereas this one is hard to call. Henderson has got the experience and Bisping has got the belief. It’d be nice to see how the fight plays itself out. My pick is Bisping at this point as Henderson didn’t look too good against Franklin. But I doubt any of these guys have a chance against Silva.

UFC 100: Make or Break for Lesnar

Brock Lesnar may be a big draw. He may be the World heavyweight champion of the UFC. But even Brock can’t stay relevant if he loses for the 2nd time to Frank Mir at UFC 100. It’s true that Brock had Mir hurt in the first fight and the ref made a big mistake, but a loss is a loss and Brock needs a win to stay relevant. Can Brock beat Mir? Absolutely. But he has to play it smart. He has got to attack Mir and try to knock him out. I don’t believe he needs to get into the whole ground and pound thing with Mir. If Mir is hurt, then that may be an option, but if I were Brock, I would pull off an Anderson Silva and just stay away from any submission situations.

Brock has the power to knock Mir out. I am not sure Mir can KO brock. But Mir can submit Brock if he gets him on the ground and my hunch is Brock will have to survive one bad situation to beat Mir (similar to Shane Carwin’s effort against Gonzaga). Brock should be a slight favorite but Mir should go in confident of catching the big guy. Regardless of who wins, a tough fight is ahead with Shane Carwin.

Tim Sylvia Embarrasses MMA, Loses in 9 seconds!

Talk about an embarrassment. An overweight Tim Sylvia made Roy Mercer look like Fedor on steroids. He lost in less than 10 seconds, and now is firmly out of the elite MMA heavyweights group. In MMA, anyone has a punchers chance. But I still don’t understand why Tim took this fight. Now he has no where to go. Losing to someone who got submitted by Kimbo Slice could be the end of the line for Tim.

The End Game: Is Arlovski Done with Boxing?

It’s a shame that it took Arlovski a few fights to realize MMA is not boxing but better late than never. Andrei may have lost his shot at getting back at Fedor by getting knocked out by Brett Rogers, but thinks can change quickly in the world of MMA. Maybe a fight with the loser of Fedor Barnett could still be in the cards for him but he needs a big win. Maybe a win against someone with a big name. Can he go back to the UFC? I am not sure he will but Dana will have all the cards at this point. At the same time, there are many great fights for Arlovski. I don’t know if he has a weak chin but whatever the case, he can definitely do a better job protecting his chin in the future. A boxer in a MMA ring is like a fish out of the water. It just doesn’t work.

Ultimate Fighter: Rashad On Loss Against Machida

Rashad may not be popular against the fans, but he certainly showed that what most of us have thought about him was certainly true. In his post Machida interview, Evans talked about how he felt uncomfortable as a champ and how he underestimated Machida. By listening to him, you may think that he is actually becoming more humble. But to be honest, Machida is a couple of levels about Evans, and the fight turned out the way it did due to Machida being superior. I guess Evans is still suffering from his vicious knockout!

WEC 41: Mike Brown To Beat Faber Again

Urijah Faber is one of the most talented fighters in the world. He has dominated his weight class and has had everyone’s number except Mike Brown. Mike Brown was an underdog against Faber in their first fight, but he literally “smashed” Faber. And I have not seen anything seen to suggest that he won’t do that again. Brown is just way too consistent for Faber to win a fight against him. Faber is wreckless and too risky, which is why Brown will probably knock him out again. Brown is stronger and better in almost every area. So unlike what Faber believes, I can’t see him winning this fight unless Mike chokes this fight away.

Jackson on Kimbo, Machida, Evans

Quentin Jackson certainly knows how to entertain. And he is still upset about Rashad Evan getting in his face after the fight with Jardine. Jackson took time to bash fans who call him scared of Machida. He also took a shot at Evans for talking during the fight with Machida. Jackson is not “scared of Machida,” and since he is “not going anywhere,” Jackson is banking to get a shot at him after bashing Evans.

Jackson may live to regret his decision to fight Evans first, but his decision will probably lead to more money for him, and that’s what it’s all about. And you can’t miss the interaction between Jackson, Evans, and Kimbo Slice. The question at this point is whether Seth will be added to the show as a wild card to further boost the show.

Machida Destorys Evans

Machida proved he is the man to beat in the UFC by blowing away a game Rashad Evans. Poor Evans couldn’t touch Machida to save his life. He did land a couple of punches on Machida, and even that was surprising. But Evans was knocked down in the first round and knocked out cold in the 2nd. That’s what you call a dominating victory for Machida who should certainly go on to beat Rampage.

UFC 98 Predictions

Time for predictions and my response to Mr. Cofield for picking Evans over Machida. The main event is going to be certainly exciting. You have someone who everyone love’s to hate and a guy who has bored people to death in a few of his fights just to come back and dish out a knock out to Silva. Machida has not been hit, and it’d be interesting to see whether Evans can catch him with a good shot. Evans will probably try to use his wrestling for a ground and pound win as I can’t see him knocking out Machida on the feet. I do expect Machida to lay down a beating on Evans (similar to that he did to Tito) and probably even knock him out (like Rich Franklin).

Matt Hughes vs. Matt Serra is the freak show of the night. Both of these guys are out of the title picture, and to be honest no one really cares who wins this fight. GPS and Thiago Alves are a level above both of these folks, but my pick is Serra in this fight. Matt Hughes is just too into his retirement to put up a good fight.

Finally, Sherk vs. Edgar is going to be an interesting fight. I can’t pick against Sherk as he has yet to lose against a non-elite fighter. Sherk is not going to win a title against a Penn or GSP but he’ll be dangerous. Florian vs. Sherk rematch or a fight with Sanchez should be good.

There you have it. It’s going to be an exciting event with possibly a new LHW champ by the end of the night. Who are you picks for this main card?

UFC 98 is finally here, and we are going to get to see the dream match-up between the guy who everyone loves to hate (Rashad Evans) and a Karate master who people want to see get more exciting. Nobody has been able to hit Machida, so it’d be interesting to see whether Rashad can hit him. We all know Rashad is elusive as well, but not as elusive as Machida. Griffin was hitting Evans in the first two rounds before losing, so can Rashad take a shot from Machida?

I do think Rashad has a chance but he should not be a favorite in this fight. Rashad has beaten guys who stand and want to bang. Machida is a true Samurai, and I can’t pick against him. Win or lose, it’ll be an interesting fight.

Can Lyoto - Evans Be Boring?

Can it? Most people think so except Machida. Machida wants to entertain and if Evans comes to fight, we will be getting a nice fight. But I do think Evans will be careful with Machida which means we may need Machida to put it. I personally would love to see an entertaining fight but I have a feeling that Dana White will be left disappointed.

Evans vs Machida UFC 98 Preview: Rashad To Get What He Deserves!

Rashad Evans may be an undefeated MMA fighter, but he is certainly among the most classless individuals in the sport of MMA. His making fun of Liddell while he was knocked out will always haunt him, and it’s no wonder the crowd loves to hate this guy. And grabbing his private parts during his fight with Griffin (another fan favorite) hasn’t helped Rashad either. But all the good things have an ending and Rashad’s title reign will end at the hands of Lyoto Machida. Lyoto have been branded as a boring fighter, but he is one of the most intelligent ones, and as long as he doesn’t do anything stupid, he should put Rashad away. And to be honest, I am not looking forward to a fight between Rashad and Rampage whereas Machida vs. Rampage could be an exciting one.

Pick: Machida via unanimous decision.
