Anderson Silva wants a fight? Dana White is giving it to him. Anderson Silva will get his first crack at an elite light heavyweight in Forrest Griffin. Forrest is certainly a capable fighter, but I doubt he can beat Anderson. Anderson is the best striker in the sport, and he will be tough to stop. I just can’t see where Forrest has an advantage (except maybe heart).
Thiago Silva who was rumored to be close to a fight with Forrest now fights Keith Jardine. That is going to be a dangerous fight for Jardine. Thiago’s style can be troubling for Jardine, and if Jardine loses this fight he may have to kiss goodbye any chance of going for the light heavyweight title soon. For Silva, this fight will really determine his future. I don’t think he will get cut if he loses, but if he doesn’t perform he may not be able to get back on track anytime soon.
An interesting video in which the Fedor folks talk about how they want to meet Dana White, and the invitation is for him to go to Fedor’s hometown for talks. But the whole argument is very stupid. Why would Dana White want to hire Fedor and be stuck with M1 Global in the process. It’s just sad that Fedor folks are being so unreasonable. The UFC doesn’t need Fedor. They already have Silva, GSP, BJ Penn, Lesnar, and all other guys who can draw and people show up to see. Having Fedor will be great but the UFC is not going to throw M1 a bone just to get Fedor.
Here is what I think. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous for M1 and affliction to expect Dana White to go their Jan 24th show that may not happen. I think Fedor is more interested in fighting freaks than real fighters. I think he waits long enough until folks are past their prime. Can Fedor beat Brock? Maybe, but Brock has only 4 freaking fights and only 2 serious years in the MMA. Wait till next year. If Brock beats Nog, Shane Carwin, Mir, and Gonzaga, I would give him a good chance against Fedor. Fedor, as Dana put it, is irrelevant, and once Affliction goes under, he’ll go back to fighting big fat Sumo wrestlers.
Somehow I knew it would go down like this, but Couture did try to take Lesnar down and he did use the cage to his advantage. He even cut Brock, but in the end those hammer fists just ended Couture’s reign as the heavyweight champ.
I am not sure where Couture goes from here. He wants to fight Fedor, and that fight is still attractive. But I am not sure if Fedor wants to fight a guy who couldn’t beat Brock. And the heavyweight title is really out of Couture’s hand for now. So maybe he could go to light heavyweight. Somehow I think he might retire for good. But you never know.
That’s true folks. It seems Elite XC folks managed to come up with enough evidence to disprove the accusations. NBC reports that no evidence was found to prove Elite XC tried to fix the Kimbo fight. But Seth’s comment did its damage, and Elite XC is no more. So I guess it’s just too little too late. In fact, I am not even sure whether Elite XC could’ve survived regardless of what Seth said.
In case you were planning to get UFC 91 tickets for the Lesnar Couture fight, you may be out of luck. All cheap tickets seem to have been sold. More over, the remaining seats are worth $750 or more, which is not for poor people like me. But more interesting, some tickets are being sold for over $2000 on eBay. There are some good deals on eBay, but they are very limited. I guess a lot of people who have no interest in this event are going to get rich as a result of it. I guess it’s only fair…
UFC 91 tickets will go offically on sale tomorrow for what is the most anticpated event of this year so far. The UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture will take on the up and comer Brock Lesnar in 5 rounds for the heavyweight title. I agree with Dana that this fight will generate a lot of buzz. I am not sure if it’s going to be the biggest fight in the UFC history, but it will be close. You can of course reserve your UFC 91 tickets with RazorGator.
